General student survey

The general student survey is conducted every year in spring and is based on the objectives of the University of Bonn. In 2022, the concept was revised and two thematic focuses were defined. Since then, the student survey has alternated between focusing on the challenges of studying and student empowerment.

The challenges of studying

Every other year, the student survey focuses in particular on the challenges that students face during their studies. How can university services be better adapted to the needs of students in different study situations and phases? How do students at the University of Bonn experience their studies? What challenges do they face in which phase of their studies? How do they organize themselves and where might they need support? After all, studying and life circumstances should be compatible.

Empowerment of students through their studies

The second focus of the student survey is the empowerment of students through their studies. What do students learn during their studies? How well do they feel qualified with regard to the requirements of the job market and academic research?
In addition to specialist and methodological skills, the degree course should also teach students how to act independently, organize themselves and communicate.
